Kristi Hamelin earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance from the
University of California at Riverside and has been teaching, choreographing
and performing for over 20 years. Kristi began her formal dance studies in
Palm Springs, CA at the Village Center for the Arts and continued training at
the College of the Desert with Michelle Gaines, and Barat College in Lake
Forest, Il with Rory Foster. During her time at UC Riverside, Kristi studied
with Dance Department Professors Susan Rose, Fred Strickler and Jean-Marie
Martz. Her studies emphasized Dance History, pedagogy, instruction and
choreography.
Kristi's performance experience includes musical theater roles in Oklahoma!,
Big River, Wizard of Oz, Evita, Will Rogers Follies, Mame, Cabaret, and Sweet
Charity. Kristi has performed roles in the classical ballets The Nutcracker,
Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella.
As the Performing Arts teacher for Red Hill Lutheran School in
Tustin, Kristi choreographed, staged and directed the annual Christmas and
Spring Sing performances, taught Middle School Drama classes and coached the
school's mini dance team.
Kristi was recognized by the Desert Theater League for best
choreography of a ballet for her work in Palm Desert CA. and was nominated
for the Disney's Teacher of the Year Award.
Kristi believes the Performing Arts, Musical Theater and dance
environments offer each child the opportunity to discover new ways of moving,
thinking, and expressing oneself. These discoveries promote confidence,
positive self-esteem, and genuine successes for people of all ages. As an
educator, Kristi feels blessed to share her love of the performing arts with
the students of Tustin Dance Center.
Kristi’s daughter has taken classes at TDC for several years, and
Kristi joined the TDC team as an instructor in 2011.
