We are delighted to invite Tustin Dance Center (TDC) students and ballet dancers from the greater Tustin area to audition for our 2024 Nutcracker production. This is our 20th year performing this timeless ballet on the big stage and our 3rd consecutive year at Downey Theatre in Downey, CA. Our professionally staged, classical rendition of The Nutcracker is the perfect opportunity for dancers who love performing on stage to showcase their talents while accompanied by a live orchestra! The cast will also perform at various events and locations around Tustin and the Orange County community in our famed 'Nutcracker in a Nutshell' ahead of our main event. This provides ample opportunities for dancers to practice and refine their roles.

Primary Auditions: Sunday, July 14, 2024*

•         1:00 - 3:00 PM: Ballet II-III and up

•         3:00 - 4:30 PM: Ballet I, Ballet I-II and Ballet II

•         4:30 - 5:30 PM: Ages 6-7

Make-Up Auditions: Monday, August 12, 2024, Time TBD

Audition Requirements:

•         Dancers must arrive 15 minutes before the audition start time to stretch and be ready to begin at the stated audition time.

•         Girls:

o   Attire: Black leotard and pink tights (no shorts or skirts)

o   Hair: In a clean bun

o   Shoes: Ballet slippers (if applicable), pointe shoes for pointe dancers

•         Boys

o   Attire: White t-shirt and black pants or tights (no shorts)

o   Shoes: Ballet slippers

Performance Dates:

•         December 7-8, 2024, Downey Theatre

•         December 6, 2024, Dress rehearsal, Downey Theatre

•         December 5, 2024, Tech rehearsal, Downey Theatre

•         TBA: "Nutcracker in a Nutshell" community performances

Requirements:

•         Dancers must attend all rehearsals.

o   Single roles: 1.5 hours per week every other week through Mid-October.

o   Additional rehearsals through performances.

•         Dancers must be enrolled in ballet classes at TDC.

•         All participants are required to promote the Nutcracker production.

•         Parents must hold volunteer positions.

•         Minimum Age: 6 years old by December 2024.

Time Commitment:

•         Primarily on weekends starting August 24, 2024.

•         Dancers will be notified of specific rehearsal times based on roles in which they are cast.

•         Soloists will require additional rehearsal time.

* There are a limited number of roles and all roles cast are non-negotiable.

¹ Dance! To Your Heart's Delight! is Tustin Dance Center's 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our non-profit was established to advance the arts within our studio and in the greater Tustin community. The proceeds from all Nutcracker performances, the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party, the Nutcracker boutique, concessions, fundraisers, and donations are directed into the non-profit and used to fund the production of the event each year.
